This is my first blog post ever!! EEP!
I spend weeks trying to come up with a name for this blog that encompassed every part of the niche I wanted to cover . . . not too much, but many a little more that the average person might think. Is there a such thing as having too many interests?
So. The reason you are reading this post. The name
itself.
Nourish Your Eden
What??? It sounds like a hippie page where I only wear hemp clothes and drink from a literal coconut each day, all while climbing up a mountain. (I would definitely try this for a week!)
Explanation time. The word nourish has a pretty obvious meaning: to sustain or nurture something, spending quality time pouring into this “something” daily. It is a word that gives a sense of richness or wholeness and makes you feel warm and cozy when you read it.
Eden on the other hand has multiple meanings. The dictionary describes it as a place of pristine or abundant natural beauty. In Genesis, Adam and Eve roamed freely in the Garden of Eden, a place created without sin or the knowledge of it. This Garden was beautiful, almost magical, and Adam and Eve walked with God and lived the epitome of natural, pure lives. In this state of living, before the curse fell upon them from their own mistakes, the world God had created was vegan.
Genesis 1:29-30 (ESV) states:
“And God said, ‘Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food. And to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the heavens and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food.’ And it was so.”
A while back, I decided that this was the way I wanted to attempt to live. Currently, I eat vegan because of the incredible health benefits I have seen in my life. I strive to find what truly benefits my well-being and grows my mind, body, and soul into lifelong healthiness. Whether or not you are a reader of scripture yourself, I think it is important to reevaluate the choices you are making in your daily life. Ask yourself, Is this beneficial? Is this uplifting? Does my body feel energized or sluggish? Does my heart feel lost and searching? Is my mind aligned with truth about myself and the world around me? Do I feel whole? I think it is time that we pursue the healthiest lifestyle possible that leaves us feeling better than we ever have. I think it’s time we spent time focused on our spiritual walks. Constantly invigorate and stimulate your mind with knowledge and grace.
Nourish your Eden. Make it happen.
Well said.
Thanks!
